Vacation Bible School

Each August, St. John's offers a week-long Vacation Bible School (VBS) for young children. These sessions typically accommodate more than 50 children, many of whom come from the Carlisle community, and involve nearly as many parish volunteers of all ages. These volunteers assume fanciful roles - Aslan the Lion, Professor Dumbledore, and a host of others.

In 2005, VBS was based on Harry Potter's quest for truth and goodness, and in 2006 we joined Aslan in Narnia, a Journey through the Wardrobe. In 2007 more than 100 children, youth leaders and adults particiated in a journey with Pirates of the Carribbean.

VBS seeks to instill in young children a sense of God's goodness and Christ's message using play, story, and activities that resonate for this age group. The results can be a wonderful experience for all involved.
