Funerals- Memorial Service/ Requiem Eucharist

The rite of Burial of the Dead is a solemn occasion that nonetheless is a celebration of the Resurrection. If the body is not present, the service is referred to as a “Memorial Service,” and if the casket (always covered by the parish Pall) is present in the church, the service is known as a “Requiem Eucharist.” In our tradition, no eulogy is read. However, we proclaim the Good News and receive comfort in our grief from the assurance of God’s grace.  As part of our parish hospitality, the women of the parish will provide and serve a luncheon or reception in the Parish Hall following funerals. In the Chapel of the Good Shepherd, the parish Columbarium provides a resting place for the ashes of members of the parish
